 'TransLit'03 - Story Market'
literary market promoting the cultures and literatures of Africa and
the Caribbean African Literature Association 29th Annual Meeting

The Translit Cultural Association is focusing its activities for the
year 2003 on African and Caribbean literature. The project TransLit'03
          - Story Market seeks to promote the cultures and literatures of African
and Caribbean countries through a four-day "literary market"
          in the city of Barcelona.

The Market will be a hub of activities for the promotion of African
literatures, as well as for meetings between professionals from the
publishing sector (agents, publishers), academics, African and Catalan
authors, and international organizers in the context of the promotion
of African literature. The framework for these activities is a space
permanently open to the public that seeks to enter into contact with
          African cultures and literatures.
The main acts of the Market will be presentations of books, debates,
talks, readings, roundtables, and school activities, with the presence
of fourteen authors from different African countries, and a similar
number of Catalan writers, moderators, and presenters. The permanent
space will house stands from literary associations, a library, a literary
café, and various rooms for holding thematic activities.
The Storymarket will take place from 10th to 14th December 2003 in
Barcelona. The venue is the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre.
